Primary School Teachers (PSTs) staged a protest outside the Pano Aqil Press Club to demand the approval of a proper service structure and urged the government to accept their legitimate demands without further delay. The demonstration was organized on the appeal of the P.T. Alif Pano Aqil body and was attended by a large number of teachers. The protesting teachers raised strong slogans in support of their rights and called upon the government to take immediate practical steps to resolve their longstanding concerns. The protest was led by P.T. Alif Pano Aqil President Javed Ahmed Kalhoro, along with Kaleemullah and Islamuddin Kalwar. Sher Khan Jatoi, Siraj Ahmed Khaldi, Abdul Sami Dayo and many other teachers also participated in the demonstration. During the protest, the teachers said that PSTs had been waiting for a long time for the approval of their service structure. They described the service structure as a basic and legitimate right and expressed disappointment over the lack of effective progress on the issue. According to the protesting teachers, the continued delay has created considerable uncertainty and concern among members of the teaching community. They said teachers require a clear professional structure that can provide them with career stability and opportunities for advancement. Speaking to the media, teachers’ representatives said that the approval of a proper service structure would not only help resolve their professional problems but would also provide greater stability for their future careers. They emphasized that teachers perform an important role in educating children and strengthening the education system, and their professional rights should therefore be given proper attention. The teachers called on the government to immediately approve the service structure for PST teachers and issue an official notification. They also demanded that all other legitimate concerns of teachers should be addressed without unnecessary delays. The teachers said that they had been raising their demands for a considerable period and expected the government to take the matter seriously. They maintained that their demands were related to their professional rights and future security and should be resolved through a transparent and fair process. The protesters also stressed that they wanted to continue their struggle through peaceful and lawful means. They said they were not seeking confrontation but wanted the authorities to listen to their concerns and take practical measures to resolve them. According to the teachers, peaceful protest was a legitimate way of drawing attention to unresolved issues and requesting action from the government. The leaders said that teachers would continue their peaceful campaign until their legitimate demands were accepted. They also warned that if the government failed to give serious attention to the issue, the scope of the protest could be expanded. This could include larger demonstrations and further efforts to highlight the teachers’ concerns. The teachers said that they hoped the authorities would respond positively before the situation required further action. The issue of service structure is important for teachers because it can define their career progression, promotion opportunities and professional responsibilities. A clear structure can also provide greater clarity regarding different stages of a teacher’s career. The protesting teachers believe that such a system would improve their professional confidence and provide them with greater stability. They also argued that better professional conditions for teachers could have a positive impact on the education sector as a whole. Teachers at the primary level play an important role in developing the educational foundation of children. They are responsible for teaching young students and helping them develop basic academic skills. The protesters therefore said that the government should recognize the importance of their work and ensure that their professional concerns are addressed. The demonstration outside the Pano Aqil Press Club also provided an opportunity for teachers to communicate their concerns to the public and media. The participation of a large number of teachers indicated that the service structure issue remains an important concern for the local teaching community. The teachers used the demonstration to call for immediate government action and to emphasize that further delays could increase frustration among teachers. The representatives of P.T. Alif said that they were ready to engage with the government through dialogue and peaceful means. They expressed hope that the relevant authorities would understand their position and take steps toward resolving the issue. They said that an official notification regarding the service structure would provide teachers with a sense of security and demonstrate that the government was serious about addressing their concerns. The teachers also called for their other legitimate demands to be considered alongside the service structure issue. They said that resolving these concerns would help improve the working environment for teachers and allow them to focus more effectively on their educational responsibilities. They maintained that professional stability and fair career opportunities are important for maintaining motivation among teaching staff. The protesters concluded their demonstration by repeating their demand for immediate approval of the service structure and issuance of the necessary notification. They said they would continue their peaceful struggle until their demands were addressed. The teachers also warned that they could broaden their protest if the government did not respond seriously. Overall, the Pano Aqil PST teachers’ protest reflects their continued demand for a clear service structure and recognition of their professional rights. The teachers have called on the government to take immediate action, issue the required notification and address their other legitimate concerns. They have also made it clear that they intend to pursue their demands through peaceful and lawful means while keeping open the possibility of expanding their protest if no progress is made.
