SUKKUR : Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr, a resident of Bashirabad, Sukkur, has alleged that he was defrauded of Rs50 million in the name of plots purportedly offered through the Civil Aviation Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Karachi. He held a press conference at the Sukkur National Press Club along with his minor daughter and demanded the recovery of his money.

Speaking to journalists, Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr alleged that he and Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah were lured into purchasing plots and were subsequently deprived of their money. He said he had paid Rs50 million to obtain plots in the Civil Aviation Employees Cooperative Housing Society, but later discovered that the plots against which the money had allegedly been collected were not owned by Jam Datar Chandio and were reportedly government-owned.

According to Mehr, Datar Khan Chandio allegedly collected the money from him in the name of the plots. He further alleged that Datar Khan Chandio had close ties with Sardar Khan Chandio, who, he said, is a prominent leader of the Chandio community.

Mehr said that despite paying the substantial amount, he had neither received possession of the plot nor had his money been returned. He claimed that the loss of Rs50 million had pushed his family into severe financial difficulties.

He said he was facing hardship along with his children and was unable even to pay their school fees. He added that he had been continuously approaching the relevant authorities in an effort to obtain justice.

During the press conference, Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr appealed to the Sindh government and other higher authorities to help recover his money. He warned that if his demand was not addressed, he would launch a protest carrying the Holy Quran, travelling from Sukkur to Qambar Shahdadkot and Karachi, and would stage a demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club.

He further demanded legal action against those allegedly involved in the fraud and the recovery of his Rs50 million. Mehr appealed to the authorities to provide justice to him and his family and take immediate steps to recover their life savings.
