A one-day awareness seminar and workshop on hereditary diseases such as hemophilia and thalassemia was held at the District Headquarters Hospital, Sanghar, focusing on public awareness, timely diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.
The seminar was organized by Civil Surgeon Dr. Aftab Azam Sariwal. Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Qurat-ul-Ain Marri, Deputy Commissioner Sanghar Sarah Javed, pediatrician Dr. Sadiq Siyal, Aurangzeb Marri, Anees-ur-Rehman, PPP Taluka President Ijaz Hussain Zardari, Taluka General Secretary Umar Gul Hingorjo, Yasir Marri, doctors, paramedical staff, and other medical personnel attended the event.
During the seminar, Dr. Nisar Ahmed briefed participants in detail about the performance of the District Headquarters Hospital and the medical facilities being provided to patients.
Pediatrician Dr. Sadiq Siyal highlighted the causes and symptoms of thalassemia, the importance of early diagnosis, blood transfusion, and various aspects of its treatment. Dr. Raheel of the Hemophilia Welfare Society briefed participants about hemophilia, its symptoms, patient care, precautions in cases of bleeding, and available treatment options.
Experts said that hemophilia and thalassemia are hereditary diseases that can be better managed through early diagnosis and appropriate medical care. Speakers emphasized that raising public awareness, ensuring timely diagnosis, and seeking proper medical advice are essential to reducing the impact and spread of these diseases.
They particularly stressed the importance of pre-marital screening and taking preventive measures when there is a family history of hereditary diseases. Participants also called for improved medical facilities for hemophilia and thalassemia patients and greater awareness of hereditary disorders in society.
At the conclusion of the seminar, speakers emphasized that similar awareness programs should be organized regularly in the future so that the public can receive maximum information about early diagnosis, treatment, and preventive measures for hereditary diseases.
