HYDERABAD: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Hyderabad Range Tariq Razzaq Khan Dharejo has directed all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) in the range to ensure foolproof, comprehensive and effective security arrangements for Chup Tazia processions.

The DIG instructed police officials to prepare security plans for the processions on the pattern of the security arrangements made for Ashura and Chehlum processions commemorating the martyrs of Karbala. He directed authorities to consult relevant stakeholders while preparing the security plans and incorporate feasible recommendations.

He also ordered the installation of CCTV cameras along traditional procession routes and the establishment of control rooms at the offices of district police chiefs for round-the-clock monitoring of the processions. Video recording and continuous monitoring of the security situation were also ordered at the control rooms.

Under the security plan, the DIG directed police to strengthen snap checking, police picketing, security deployment around the processions, deployment of plainclothes personnel, checking at entry points, rooftop security, police pickets and Bomb Disposal Squad deployment, along with all other necessary security measures.

He further ordered coordinated traffic management, parking arrangements and police deployment along procession routes to ensure that mourners face no difficulties and that security and traffic operations are carried out smoothly.

DIGP Tariq Razzaq Khan Dharejo also directed officials to ensure foolproof and effective security arrangements at shopping centres, rallies, important government and semi-government offices, seminaries, Imambargahs, shrines and places of worship of minority communities.

He stressed that no negligence or lapse in security arrangements would be tolerated, emphasizing that the protection of people’s lives and property and the peaceful observance of religious gatherings must remain a top priority.
