Sukkur (Report: Danish Rajput): Employees in Sukkur staged a major protest against the privatization of WAPDA, rising inflation, and long-standing employee grievances. The demonstration was organized by the All Pakistan WAPDA Hydroelectric Workers Union (CBA), Sukkur Region, and was led by prominent leaders including Khalil-ur-Rehman Domki, Shujaat Hussain Ghamro, Aqeel Ahmed Jooni, Javed Hussain Abbasi, Abdul Malik Soomro, Sarwar Ali, Syed Zahid Shah, Aqeel Ahmed Dayo, Nazar Muhammad Memon, Ashfaq Ahmed Mehr, Nadeem Ali Korai, Hidayatullah Korai, Abid Ali Khoso, Abdul Majeed Solangi, Shams-ud-Din Anar, Dadu Didar, Abdul Khaliq Sawand, Sarwar Ali Sheikh, Abbas Ali Shah, Tahir Pirzada, Majid Ali Shah, Noor Din Soomro, and others.

The leaders demanded the immediate reversal of the WAPDA privatization decision, stressing that it is a national institution and that privatization would affect thousands of employees. They also called for permanent employment of contract and daily-wage workers, salary and allowance increases in line with inflation, timely promotions and time-scale adjustments, full payment of dues for retired employees, provision of safety equipment for field staff, and better medical facilities.

The union warned that if their demands are not met promptly, the protest movement would be expanded further, signaling potential large-scale industrial action.

The protest reflects growing discontent among WAPDA employees nationwide, who argue that privatization, coupled with rising living costs, threatens their job security and welfare.
