A woman allegedly involved in the murder of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ticket holder Abdullah Tahir has been arrested, according to police.
Police said the suspect was arrested in Sialkot and has been transferred to Lahore as part of the investigation into Abdullah Tahir’s murder.
According to investigators, the woman allegedly used a honey-trap scheme to target Abdullah Tahir’s driver. Police said the suspect was reportedly a friend of the alleged shooter and had allegedly used similar tactics to trap several other people in the past.
Police said another female accomplice contacted Abdullah Tahir’s driver through a social media application. On the day of the incident, after reaching the clinic, the driver and the suspect reportedly had a video call.
Investigators believe the call was used by the suspects to confirm that Abdullah Tahir was present at the clinic.
Police further said that the suspects allegedly used a drone camera to conduct surveillance and monitor the victim before the attack.
According to the police investigation, the suspects appear to have planned the attack in advance and used multiple methods to track the victim and confirm his location.
Abdullah Tahir, a PTI leader and former party ticket holder, was killed in Lahore a few days ago. The arrest of the suspected female accomplice is being described as an important development in the investigation.
Police are continuing their investigation to identify all those involved in the murder and determine their individual roles. Further arrests may also be made as investigators examine the evidence and question the arrested suspect.
The case remains under investigation, and the allegations against the arrested woman and other suspects will be subject to the legal process.
