Tandojam, November 3: A high-level delegation from Islamabad’s Secretariat Training Institute (STI) has lauded the Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam as one of the country’s most advanced and prestigious agricultural institutions, playing a vital role in Pakistan’s agricultural development, economic stability, and climate resilience.
The delegation, led by Directors Ms. Saadia Bashir and Mr. Israr Ahmed, included 26 CSS officers (BS-17) from the Office Management Group, 27 CSS officers (BS-17) from the Office Management Service of Gilgit-Baltistan, four Deputy Directors, and one Staff Officer. The officers undertook a comprehensive study and observation tour of the university to understand its modern academic, research, and administrative frameworks.
In honor of the delegation, a formal ceremony was held in the Senate Hall of the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat, chaired by Dr. Inayatullah Rajpar, Senior Dean of the Faculty of Crop Production. The event began with a welcoming address by Registrar Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi, followed by an in-depth presentation on the university’s academic and research activities.
During the briefing, Dr. Abdul Mubeen Lodhi and Dr. Saleem Masih Bhatti highlighted that SAU is equipped with modern teaching systems, smart multimedia classrooms, advanced laboratories, and cutting-edge research centers, supported by a strong academic and infrastructural foundation. They emphasized that the university provides comprehensive residential, transport, research, and fieldwork facilities to ensure a productive learning environment for students.
The STI Directors, Ms. Saadia Bashir and Mr. Israr Ahmed, expressed admiration for the university’s contribution to the national agricultural sector. They remarked that SAU stands among the top agricultural universities in Pakistan, with its academic excellence, professional faculty, and globally competitive teaching standards.
They further stated that the ongoing research and practical projects at SAU are paving the way for a new era of agricultural innovation and sustainability in Pakistan. The STI officials particularly appreciated the university’s climate-adaptive research, which they said was aligned with the country’s long-term agricultural modernization goals.
The event was also attended by several senior faculty members and administrators, including Dr. Syed Ghiyasuddin Shah Rashdi, Dr. Zaheer Ahmed Nizamani, Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Soomro, Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khaskheli, Dr. Saba Ambreen Memon, Dr. Imran Khatrri, Director of Campus Affairs Muhammad Ashraf Rustamani, Anwar Hussain Khanzada, Director of Farms Muhammad Mithal Lund, and Public Relations Officer Gul Sher Lochi.
Assistant Commissioner of Hyderabad Rural, Gohar Masroor, also attended as a special guest, highlighting the collaboration between academia and the district administration in advancing agricultural innovation.
Following the ceremony, the visiting officers conducted a detailed field tour of various departments and research facilities, including the Faculty of Crop Production, Smart Greenhouse, Horticulture Garden, Latif Farm, and the Seed Production and Development Center. During the tour, the delegation was given practical demonstrations and briefings on field experiments, sustainable cultivation techniques, and crop improvement programs.
