CCPO Lahore, Bilal Siddiq Kamyana, has said that for Basant, no more than the allowed number of people will be permitted on rooftops designated for the festival, and strict action will be taken against violations of the Sound System Act.
The Lahore Police held a meeting regarding the peaceful organization of Basant, reviewing various matters.
On this occasion, CCPO Bilal Siddiq Kamyana ordered rooftop owners designated for Basant to submit security bonds to ensure compliance with SOPs and reiterated that no one beyond the rooftop capacity will be allowed.
Issuing further orders, he said that full implementation of the Kite Flying Act 2025 will ensure a peaceful Basant. “From February 1, no motorcycles should be on the road without a safety rod.”
He added that there will be zero tolerance for aerial firing and display of weapons, and violations will be dealt with indiscriminately. Legal action will be taken for breaches of the Punjab Sound System Act 2015.
According to the CCPO, operations against illegal kite flying and metallic kite strings will continue.
It is worth noting that the Punjab government has announced that Basant will be celebrated in Lahore from February 6 to 8, and preparations, including the buying and selling of kites, have started from today.
