Lahore: Punjab’s Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has said that the government’s decision to arrest the Rizvi brothers is being taken solely in the interest of protecting human lives, and confirmed that both brothers will be apprehended soon.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, the minister condemned the recent acts of violence and chaos that erupted during the protests organized by a religious group, emphasizing that law enforcement agencies had been attacked and public property vandalized.
Uzma Bukhari revealed that during the unrest, police officers were assaulted, vehicles were snatched and set ablaze, and public and private assets were damaged, creating fear and disruption in the city. “The government cannot allow anyone to take the law into their own hands in the name of religion or politics,” she asserted.
The minister further said that Islam does not permit the burning of places of worship or the mistreatment of non-Muslims. “Our faith teaches peace, tolerance, and respect for all humanity. Those who committed such acts have not served any religious cause but have instead brought harm to innocent people,” she remarked.
