Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a comprehensive economic support package aimed at providing relief to industrial and agricultural sectors, promising discounted electricity rates and other facilitative measures to boost productivity and national growth.
The announcement came during a meeting between the Prime Minister and a delegation of industrialists, agricultural experts, and members of the business community, where strategies to strengthen Pakistan’s economic foundations were discussed in detail.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that, under the newly introduced package, industries and farmers will receive additional electricity at a concessional rate of Rs 22.98 per unit. This incentive will be effective for three years, from November 2025 to October 2028, covering the entire annual consumption period for both sectors.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the special tariff plan aims to lower production costs, encourage investment, and enhance competitiveness in local and export markets. He noted that energy affordability has been one of the major concerns for businesses, particularly for the textile, manufacturing, and agri-based industries that contribute significantly to Pakistan’s GDP and employment.
