MOSCOW: At least seven people were killed and 24 others injured in a Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s western Tambov region, according to Russian authorities.
Officials said the casualties occurred at a logistics center, where workers were caught in the strike. The injured were reportedly taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment, while emergency services responded to the scene.
Videos circulating on social media, which have not been independently verified, appear to show a large fire and thick black smoke rising into the sky following the attack. Another video reportedly shows residents moving to safer locations in the aftermath of the incident.
Russian authorities have not released additional details regarding the extent of the damage to the logistics facility or whether further casualties are expected.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Moscow said Ukraine launched more than 370 drones toward the Moscow region overnight. He stated that Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed the majority of the incoming drones before they reached their targets.
Ukraine has not immediately commented on the reported strikes, and the claims made by Russian officials have not been independently verified.
The incident is the latest in a series of long-range drone attacks exchanged between Russia and Ukraine as the conflict continues.
