UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has strongly condemned the reported ballistic missile attacks by Yemen’s Houthi movement on Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its full support for the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The condemnation was expressed by Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Usman Jadoon, during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council convened to discuss the situation in the Middle East, particularly developments in Yemen.

Addressing the Council, Jadoon said Pakistan unequivocally condemns the ballistic missile attacks launched toward Saudi Arabia by the Houthis.

He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of regional stability and respect for international law.

Jadoon also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Yemen, stressing that the country’s long-term stability can only be achieved through a peaceful and inclusive political process.

Calling for restraint by all parties, he urged stakeholders to pursue dialogue, diplomacy, and de-escalation to reduce tensions in the region and prevent further conflict.

He added that lasting peace in Yemen is only possible through a comprehensive political settlement, encouraging renewed diplomatic efforts under international frameworks.

According to foreign media reports cited in the background to the meeting, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition, said Houthi forces had launched ballistic missiles toward southern Saudi Arabia. He stated that Saudi Arabia’s air defense systems intercepted and destroyed the missiles before they reached their targets.

The reported attack followed warnings by the Houthi movement, which had accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport and said the Kingdom would face consequences for those actions.

Pakistan has consistently called for a negotiated resolution to the conflict in Yemen while supporting efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and promoting peace through dialogue.
