RAWALAKOT: A Rangers personnel was killed and another injured after armed groups allegedly associated with a banned Joint Action Committee attacked security forces and civilians in Rawalakot, according to official sources.
Sources said the incident occurred on Tuesday morning near the Matyal Mera Bus Terminal, where armed individuals allegedly opened fire in a civilian area.
Police moved to the scene to restore law and order but reportedly came under fire from the armed group.
According to the sources, a contingent of Pakistan Rangers, deployed to assist the police in controlling the situation, also came under attack.
During the exchange of fire, one Rangers personnel was martyred, while another sustained injuries, the sources said.
Authorities said security forces responded to the attack and took measures to secure the area. Further details regarding the incident and any subsequent operation have not yet been officially released.
