ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces have killed seven more militants during the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, bringing the total number of militants killed in the operation to 64, according to security sources.

The joint operation by the Pakistan Army and police was launched following the attack on the Mangi Dam police checkpoint and is continuing against militants whom Pakistani authorities refer to as Fitna al-Khawarij.

Security sources said aerial and ground operations are ongoing across the area as forces continue to target militant hideouts.

According to the sources, seven militants were killed during the latest engagements, raising the overall death toll in Operation Shaban to 64.

The sources further stated that a total of 102 militants have been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations conducted in Balochistan.

Officials said the operation will continue until all militant elements operating in the province have been eliminated.

“The operation will continue until the last terrorist is neutralized,” security sources said, reaffirming the security forces’ commitment to ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for their role in the ongoing operation against militants.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the complete elimination of terrorism is essential for lasting peace and security.

“It is necessary to eradicate terrorism from its roots. The enemies of peace will find no place to hide,” the interior minister said.

The casualty figures and operational details have been provided by Pakistani security sources and have not been independently verified. The militant groups mentioned have not publicly commented on the claims.
