ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces have killed nine militants in the latest phase of the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, according to security sources.
The operation is being conducted jointly by the Pakistan Army, the Frontier Corps (FC), and the police in the Shaban area as part of continued counterterrorism efforts.
Security sources said the forces are carrying out sustained operations against militants whom the Pakistani authorities refer to as Fitna al-Khawarij. They added that the latest action involved coordinated aerial and ground operations targeting militant positions.
According to the sources, nine militants were killed during the latest engagements after being targeted through both air and ground strikes. The operation was described as part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle militant networks and restore security in the region.
With the latest casualties, the total number of militants killed during Operation Shaban has risen to 52, security sources said.
The sources further stated that since July 5, a total of 88 militants have been killed in separate counterterrorism operations conducted across various parts of Balochistan.
Security officials said the operation will continue until all militant elements in the area have been eliminated.
“The operation in Balochistan will continue until the last terrorist is neutralized,” the sources said, reaffirming the resolve of the security forces to maintain pressure on militant groups operating in the province.
The casualty figures and operational details have been provided by Pakistani security sources and have not been independently verified. The militant groups mentioned have not publicly commented on the claims.
