Jhelum: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced that it will launch a vigorous election campaign in Jhelum for the refugee seats in the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections.
A meeting to review the party’s election strategy was held at the ancestral residence of Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani in the Badlot area of Jhelum.
The meeting was attended by senior party leaders, including Tahira Aurangzeb, Malik Abrar, President of PML-N Rawalpindi and Member of the National Assembly, former Rawalpindi Mayor Sardar Naseem Khan, and several senior party representatives from Jhelum.
Also present were the party’s nominated candidates for the AJK Legislative Assembly: Raja Muhammad Siddique, contesting from Constituency LA-39 Jammu-6, and Shaukat Ali Shah, the nominee for Constituency LA-42 Valley-III.
Other participants included former members of the Punjab Assembly Meher Fayyaz and Chaudhry Saeed, along with party leaders Talib Mehdi, Chaudhry Boota Javed, Hafiz Ejaz, Chaudhry Rashid, and several local officials.
During the meeting, party leaders reviewed the implementation of decisions taken in an earlier strategy session and discussed preparations for the upcoming election campaign. They also assessed the responsibilities assigned across all four tehsils of Jhelum and finalized plans for campaign activities and polling-day management in the constituencies where refugee voters from Azad Kashmir are registered.
Addressing the participants, Bilal Azhar Kayani said that the party would conduct a comprehensive and energetic election campaign in accordance with the directions of PML-N President Nawaz Sharif.
Other party leaders echoed the commitment, stating that the Pakistan Muslim League-N remains dedicated to strengthening the Kashmir cause and ensuring the development and prosperity of the people of Kashmir. They expressed confidence that the party would perform strongly in the upcoming elections through an organized campaign and active engagement with voters.
The meeting reflects PML-N’s efforts to consolidate support among refugee voters residing in Punjab, particularly in Jhelum, where a significant number of voters are registered for Azad Kashmir’s refugee constituencies.
