Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a rise in temperatures across Karachi today, with residents expected to experience hotter and more humid weather.

According to the Meteorological Department, the city’s temperature is likely to increase by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius compared to previous days.

The maximum temperature is expected to reach 37°C, while the high humidity levels will make it feel even hotter, with the heat index or “feels-like” temperature reaching approximately 38°C.

The department said that hot and humid weather will prevail throughout the day. However, there is also a possibility of light drizzle in isolated areas of the city, which may provide brief relief from the heat but is unlikely to significantly lower temperatures.

Southwesterly winds are currently blowing at a speed of 19 kilometers per hour, helping maintain airflow across the city. Despite the breeze, humidity remains high at 74%, contributing to increased discomfort and making outdoor conditions feel warmer than the actual air temperature.

Health experts generally advise people to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, wear light-colored clothing, and take extra precautions for children, older adults, and those with existing health conditions during periods of high heat and humidity.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated weather advisories, as changing atmospheric conditions could affect the likelihood of drizzle or further fluctuations in temperature throughout the day.
