According to his projections, total remittances could reach approximately $41 billion by the close of the current fiscal year, setting a new milestone for Pakistan.

If achieved, the figure would represent one of the highest annual remittance totals in the country’s history.

Importance for the Economy

Economists consider remittances a crucial pillar of Pakistan’s economy because they:

  • Support foreign exchange reserves.
  • Help finance imports.
  • Reduce pressure on the current account.
  • Strengthen household incomes.
  • Contribute to economic stability.

The steady inflow of remittances has played an important role in easing external financing pressures and improving the country’s balance-of-payments position.

Overseas Pakistanis Continue Strong Support

Government officials have repeatedly acknowledged the contribution of Pakistanis living abroad, whose remittances provide significant support to families and businesses across the country.

The latest figures suggest that overseas workers continue to play a vital role in sustaining economic activity and supporting national financial stability.

With one month remaining in the fiscal year, policymakers remain hopeful that remittance inflows will maintain their momentum and help Pakistan achieve the projected $41 billion target by year-end.
