QUETTA: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan has presented an initial investigation report regarding the deadly Quetta railway track blast to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti during a high-level security meeting.
The federal and provincial governments once again reiterated their determination to eliminate terrorists linked to what officials referred to as “Fitna al-Hindustan” and vowed to bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
The special meeting, chaired jointly by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, strongly condemned the attack on innocent civilians in Quetta and reviewed the overall security situation in the province.
During the meeting, participants expressed deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the blast. Officials also discussed measures to improve security and prevent similar attacks in the future.
According to officials, the IG Police Balochistan briefed the meeting on the preliminary findings of the investigation into the railway crossing explosion near Chaman Phatak in Quetta.
The blast occurred a day earlier on a railway track near Chaman Phatak, resulting in the deaths of at least 14 people, including three personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC), while several others sustained injuries.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the federal government stands firmly with the people and government of Balochistan during this difficult time. He stated that the sacrifices of the martyrs would always be remembered and assured full cooperation in efforts to combat terrorism.
“The federal government is standing shoulder to shoulder with the Balochistan government in this hour of grief,” the interior minister said during the meeting.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti thanked the federal government and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for their continued support to Balochistan in challenging circumstances. He emphasized that terrorists involved in attacks against innocent citizens would be taken to their logical end.
“We will not leave the families of the martyrs alone, and those involved in terrorism will face the consequences of their actions,” the chief minister said.
Security officials reportedly informed the meeting that investigations into the attack are ongoing, while law enforcement agencies have intensified search and intelligence-based operations in the region to trace those responsible.
The railway track explosion once again highlighted the security challenges faced by Balochistan, where militants have repeatedly targeted civilians, security personnel, and infrastructure in recent years.
Authorities have increased security around sensitive installations, transportation routes, and public areas following the incident. Medical assistance is also being provided to the injured victims receiving treatment at hospitals in Quetta.
Political and security analysts believe the latest attack is aimed at creating instability and fear in the province, but officials insist that such incidents will not weaken the state’s resolve against militancy and terrorism.
The tragic incident drew widespread condemnation from political leaders and citizens across the country, with many expressing solidarity with the victims and their families.
