The Balochistan government has dismissed 72 doctors for remaining absent from duty, taking the total number of government employees sacked over absenteeism to 200.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced the decision in a post on social media platform X, saying the AI-powered attendance monitoring system was delivering results.

He said a total of Rs410 million had so far been deducted from government employees’ salaries for violating attendance and discipline rules.

According to the chief minister, around 11,000 employees have been issued notices and asked to explain their absence or other violations, while disciplinary proceedings against another 800 employees are underway.

Bugti stressed that government employees were public servants and must fulfil their responsibilities honestly.

He made it clear that the provincial government would not allow anyone to receive a salary from public funds without performing their duties.
