Fresh allegations have emerged linking JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to undisclosed properties, alleged misuse of government employees and foreign funding, prompting calls for a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) probe.
According to sources, Fazlur Rehman has a horse stable in Islamabad’s Shah Allah Ditta area, housing around two dozen expensive horses, in addition to four luxury houses reportedly held in other people’s names.
The stable is allegedly managed by government employees recruited during the tenure of his son, Asad Mahmood, as a federal minister.
Sources further claim that government employees, including drivers, cooks, cleaners and security guards, have been deployed at Fazlur Rehman’s private residences. Their recruitment allegedly involved irregularities during Asad Mahmood’s ministerial tenure and Fazlur Rehman’s tenure as chairman of the Kashmir Committee.
The report also claims that the Mufti Mahmood Centre in Peshawar and its associated facilities were built with financial assistance from Libya.
Calls have been made for NAB to investigate the funding, its utilisation and any possible unlawful financial transactions.
No documentary evidence or responses from Fazlur Rehman, Asad Mahmood or the centre’s representatives were available for this report. There was also no confirmation of a formal NAB investigation into these claims.
