The Sindh Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, has approved the design for a new bridge to be constructed over the Indus River between Hyderabad and Kotri. The decision marks a significant step toward improving regional connectivity and easing transportation challenges in the province.
According to official details, the cabinet reviewed and gave the green light to the proposed bridge project, which is expected to serve as a major infrastructure development for Sindh. Speaking during the meeting, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the new bridge would provide substantial facility for domestic traffic movement, reducing congestion and improving travel efficiency between the two key urban centers.
Hyderabad and Kotri are important economic and transportation hubs, and the existing infrastructure has long struggled to handle increasing traffic volumes. The construction of a new bridge is anticipated to not only ease the burden on current routes but also support trade, logistics, and daily commuting for thousands of citizens.
In addition to the bridge project, the Sindh Cabinet also approved a significant allocation of Rs 6.5 billion for the rehabilitation and restoration of roads across Karachi. The Chief Minister directed authorities to begin repair work promptly and ensure the immediate release of funds so that residents can experience improved road conditions without unnecessary delays.
The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 2 billion for Karachi’s S-3 project, which is considered vital for the city’s infrastructure and urban development.
Furthermore, the Sindh government took steps toward modernizing the judicial system. An allocation of Rs 48.9 million was approved for the digitalization of the district court system. Murad Ali Shah highlighted that digitization is a crucial move to enhance efficiency, transparency, and public access to judicial services.
Continuing its focus on strengthening legal infrastructure, the cabinet approved Rs 432.597 million for the construction of four new courts in Moro. This development is expected to improve access to justice for residents in the area and reduce the burden on existing judicial facilities.
Additionally, a grant of Rs 25 million was sanctioned for Pir Ilahi Bux Law College in Dadu, aimed at supporting legal education and capacity building in the region.
Overall, the decisions taken during the cabinet meeting reflect a broader strategy to invest in infrastructure, urban development, and institutional modernization across Sindh. The approval of the Hyderabad-Kotri bridge stands out as a particularly important initiative, with the potential to significantly improve transportation networks and contribute to economic growth in the province.
