WhatsApp is reportedly working on a major redesign that will change how users interact with the app, making the overall experience more similar to Instagram.
According to recent reports, the messaging platform is planning a significant update to its main interface, particularly the central chat tab. The new change will bring contact status updates directly into the chat screen, placing them at the top in a format similar to Instagram Stories.
Under this upcoming feature, users will be able to view their contacts’ status updates more prominently without needing to switch to a separate tab. The goal appears to be simplifying access and increasing engagement with status content.
The feature is currently being tested in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android devices. Beta testing allows selected users to try out new features before they are officially released to the wider public, helping developers identify bugs and improve performance.
While WhatsApp has not officially confirmed a global rollout date, such interface changes are typically introduced gradually after testing is completed and feedback is reviewed.
