U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that the American Navy is carrying out operations against Iranian ports in a manner he compared to “pirates.”
According to an international news agency, Trump made the remarks while commenting on the ongoing U.S. and Israeli tensions with Iran. He said that the U.S. Navy is enforcing a blockade of Iranian ports and described its actions in unusually strong terms.
“We are seizing Iranian ships, cargo, and oil. It is a very profitable business. We are like pirates, but we are not playing games,” Trump said.
The news agency also reported that the U.S. Navy has taken control of several Iranian vessels in Asian waters. In response, Iran has reportedly filed a formal complaint at the United Nations Security Council and demanded the return of its seized ships.
