ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s equestrian team has received final clearance for its horse, Eden du Veret, to travel to Tokyo for the Asian Games.
According to Pakistani equestrian athlete Usman Khan, Eden du Veret is scheduled to depart from France for Tokyo on September 14, with the horse expected to arrive in Tokyo on September 15.
Usman Khan said the horse completed a mandatory 60-day approved quarantine in France before also undergoing a 10-day pre-export quarantine in Germany.
With the two quarantine periods completed, Eden du Veret has undergone a total of 70 days of quarantine as part of the preparations for its participation in the Asian Games.
Khan said all required tests conducted on the horse ahead of the Asian Games returned negative results, clearing the way for its international travel.
Officials said Eden du Veret will be transported to Japan to participate in the equestrian events at the Asian Games. The necessary health and travel requirements have been completed to ensure that the horse can enter Japan and join the Pakistani squad.
Pakistan has also activated a 72-hour final preparation plan before the horse’s departure from France.
The extensive quarantine process reflects the strict veterinary and biosecurity requirements involved in transporting competition horses internationally. Horses traveling across borders for major sporting events are generally required to undergo health checks, testing and quarantine procedures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
For Pakistan’s equestrian team, completing the required procedures on time was particularly important because any delay in the horse’s clearance could have affected its participation in the Asian Games.
The final travel clearance means Eden du Veret can now proceed with the journey from France to Japan according to the planned schedule.
The horse is expected to arrive in Tokyo on September 15, one day after departing France, allowing the Pakistani team to complete its final preparations ahead of the equestrian competition.
The Pakistani contingent has therefore completed the major veterinary and logistical requirements for the horse’s participation. With all tests reportedly negative and the 70-day quarantine completed, attention will now turn to the horse’s performance in the Asian Games equestrian events.
Usman Khan said the successful completion of the quarantine and testing requirements represents an important step for the Pakistani equestrian team as it prepares for the competition in Japan.
