Google is continuing to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) across its products, and now YouTube is also getting an AI-powered search feature.
The company has announced that this experimental feature is being rolled out temporarily for YouTube Premium users aged 18 and above in the United States.
Called “Ask YouTube,” the feature allows users to go beyond simple keyword searches and ask more complex questions. In response, users receive comprehensive results that include both videos and text, along with the ability to ask follow-up questions.
To use the feature, users need to enable it manually from their account settings. Once activated, a new “Ask YouTube” button appears in the search bar, offering prompt suggestions or allowing users to type their own queries.
For example, users can ask detailed questions like planning a road trip to a specific destination, and the feature will provide summarized answers along with relevant video recommendations.
