RLNG Reserves Deplete Rapidly as Gas Crisis Deepens Across Pakistan

Pakistan is facing a worsening gas crisis as reserves of Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) continue to decline sharply, leading to reduced supply across multiple sectors.

According to sources within Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), the shortage has intensified due to the lack of incoming RLNG shipments. As a result, gas supply to key sectors such as power generation and fertilizer production has dropped to critically low levels.

The الأزمة has also started affecting domestic consumers, with reports indicating a noticeable reduction in gas availability for households. Many areas are experiencing lower pressure and inconsistent supply, raising concerns among residents.

Sources revealed that overall gas supply has fallen to around 700 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD), a significant drop from the previous level of 1,200 MMCFD before recent regional tensions involving Iran and the United States. This decline has resulted in a shortfall exceeding 600 MMCFD.

Despite the situation, Sui Gas officials maintain that gas supply during peak cooking hours is being ensured to minimize inconvenience for domestic users. However, the reduced overall availability continues to strain the system.

Experts warn that continued disruption in RLNG imports, combined with rising demand, could further aggravate the crisis if immediate corrective measures are not taken.
