The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heatwave alert across Sindh, warning of extremely high temperatures and dry weather conditions in most parts of the province over the coming days.

According to the Met Office, weather conditions across Sindh are expected to remain hot to very hot and dry, with a significant rise in temperatures beginning today and likely to persist until May 3. Central and upper districts are expected to be the most affected.

Officials stated that temperatures in cities such as Jamshoro, Dadu, and Shaheed Benazirabad could remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal. Similar conditions are forecast for Ghotki and Sanghar, while Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur are also expected to experience intense heatwave conditions.

The PMD has advised the public, especially children, women, and the elderly, to take precautionary measures. Citizens are urged to avoid direct exposure to sunlight during peak daytime hours and to increase water intake to stay hydrated.

Farmers have also been advised to plan their wheat-related agricultural activities in accordance with the prevailing weather conditions, while livestock owners are encouraged to take necessary steps to protect animals from extreme heat.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, the weather is expected to remain warm over the next three days. The maximum temperature today is likely to range between 34°C and 36°C, with a gradual increase to 36°C on Wednesday and up to 37°C on Thursday.

The advisory highlights the potential health risks associated with prolonged exposure to high temperatures, including heat exhaustion and heatstroke, and emphasizes the importance of preventive measures.
