Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Nasir Rizvi has been transferred, according to sources in Pakistan’s Establishment Division.
Sources said Rizvi has been appointed Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). His transfer comes as part of a reshuffle involving senior police officials.
Meanwhile, sources said Sohail Chaudhry has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Islamabad Police.
The Establishment Division is expected to issue a formal notification confirming the appointments and outlining the new responsibilities of both officers.
Ali Nasir Rizvi had been serving as the Islamabad Police chief and was responsible for overseeing law enforcement, public security, and policing operations in the federal capital. His appointment to head the NCCIA is significant as the agency deals with cybercrime investigations, digital offenses, and related criminal cases.
Sohail Chaudhry will now take charge as Islamabad’s new police chief. His responsibilities will include maintaining law and order in the capital, supervising police operations, and coordinating security arrangements for important government institutions and diplomatic missions.
The changes come at a time when Islamabad remains a key security and administrative center, with the police frequently required to manage major public gatherings, political activities, diplomatic movements, and security-related challenges.
