Security forces in South Waziristan successfully thwarted an attempted infiltration by militants identified as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” according to security sources, while also responding strongly to cross-border firing that reportedly targeted civilian areas.

Officials said that Pakistan Army troops acted swiftly in the Angoor Adda area, a region near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, and neutralized attempts by militants to cross into Pakistani territory. The operation was described as effective and timely, preventing potential escalation on the ground.

Following the failed infiltration attempt, Afghan Taliban forces allegedly opened fire on the Zlol Khel area, a civilian-populated locality in Angoor Adda. As a result, three civilians, including two women, were injured. The injured were immediately shifted to the hospital in Wana for medical treatment, according to officials.

Security sources stated that the firing on civilians appeared to be an act of retaliation after the militants’ failed attempt to infiltrate Pakistani territory. They described the situation as a result of “panic and frustration” on the part of the Afghan side.

In response, Pakistan Army carried out counter-operations targeting several Afghan border posts used for firing into Pakistani territory. Multiple posts were reportedly destroyed during the retaliatory action, significantly reducing hostile activity in the area.

Officials emphasized that the armed forces acted in line with defensive protocols to protect civilian lives and maintain border security. They reiterated that any aggression against Pakistani territory or civilians would be met with a strong and immediate response.

The region has witnessed intermittent tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, particularly in areas where militant groups attempt to exploit difficult terrain for cross-border movement. Security forces on both sides have at times engaged in exchanges of fire amid heightened vigilance.

Local residents in South Waziristan have reported periods of unrest due to such incidents, although authorities continue to maintain that security operations are aimed at ensuring long-term stability and preventing militant infiltration.

Military officials further stressed that Pakistan remains committed to safeguarding its territorial integrity and protecting its civilian population from any form of cross-border aggression.
