NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: The Jamiat Talaba-e-Islam and local activists staged a protest outside the Naushahro Feroze Press Club against what they alleged was the allocation of government jobs through bribery and political influence instead of merit.
The protest was led by Maulana Hussain Korai, Sajid Rehman Khoso and other activists. The demonstrators raised slogans in support of their rights and called for transparency and merit-based recruitment in government departments.
Speaking to the media during the demonstration, the protest leaders alleged that students and young people who work hard to obtain higher education are being denied employment opportunities despite meeting the required qualifications.
They claimed that instead of recruiting educated youth purely on merit, government jobs were allegedly being offered on the basis of recommendations, political connections and bribery.
The protesters expressed particular concern over the situation in Sindh, saying that educated and hardworking young people were facing serious difficulties in securing employment despite investing years in their education.
They alleged that the youth of Sindh were being treated unfairly and described the situation as discriminatory and unjust. According to the protesters, a transparent recruitment process based solely on qualifications and merit is essential to provide equal opportunities to educated young people.
The demonstrators said their protest was peaceful and intended to draw the attention of the authorities and the wider public to the issue of alleged irregularities in government recruitment.
They demanded that the government ensure transparency in the hiring process and take steps to prevent bribery, favoritism and undue influence from affecting recruitment decisions.
The protest leaders warned that if qualified and hardworking young people in Sindh continued to be denied government jobs on merit, they would expand their protest and launch stronger demonstrations across the province.
They called upon the relevant authorities to address their concerns and ensure that recruitment to government positions is conducted fairly, transparently and strictly according to merit.
The protesters maintained that providing employment opportunities on merit would not only protect the rights of educated youth but would also strengthen public confidence in government institutions.
The demonstration concluded with the protesters reiterating their demand for merit-based recruitment and warning of further peaceful protests if their concerns were not addressed.
