Pakistan to Introduce Unified Airport Scanning System for Faster, Coordinated Security Checks

The government of Pakistan has decided to implement a unified scanning system at airports nationwide, allowing multiple agencies to conduct joint security checks through a single scanner. The move is aimed at improving coordination among departments while making the screening process more efficient for passengers.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, with participation from officials of both the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defence. The جلسه focused on enhancing airport security procedures while also ensuring greater سہولت for travelers.

Under the new plan, passengers and luggage will be screened through a single, مشترکہ system instead of undergoing multiple checks by different agencies. This integrated approach is expected to streamline operations, reduce duplication of effort, and minimize delays that passengers often face at airports.

Officials emphasized that modern, state-of-the-art scanning equipment will be installed to support this system. The introduction of advanced machinery is intended not only to speed up the process but also to maintain, and potentially enhance, security standards.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that conducting joint checks through a single scanner would significantly save time and improve overall efficiency. “This system will reduce waiting times and ensure better coordination among all relevant agencies,” he said.

Currently, airport security procedures often involve multiple layers of checks conducted separately by different authorities, which can lead to longer queues and inconvenience for passengers. By integrating these processes, the government aims to create a smoother travel experience without compromising on safety.

Experts believe that such systems, already in use at several international airports, can greatly enhance operational efficiency when implemented effectively. However, they also stress the importance of proper training, inter-agency coordination, and maintenance of equipment to ensure the system works seamlessly.

The initiative reflects the government’s broader effort to modernize infrastructure and adopt technology-driven solutions in public services. Improved airport procedures are expected to benefit not only domestic travelers but also international passengers, contributing to a more positive image of the country’s aviation sector.
