Islamabad: Water entered the office of the Director General (DG) Media at the National Assembly during a fire safety drill conducted by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
CDA staff conducted a fire safety drill at the National Assembly on Friday. During the exercise, water used to extinguish the simulated fire reportedly leaked into the office of DG Media Zafar Sultan.
The leakage from the ceiling caused the office to become flooded with water. The office kitchen and washroom were also affected, with water accumulating in both areas.
According to the available details, the water entered the office through leakage in the ceiling installed above the premises. The incident occurred while the CDA staff were carrying out the fire safety exercise inside the National Assembly building.
Although the drill was conducted as part of routine fire safety preparations, the incident raised concerns over the arrangements made to manage and drain the large quantity of water used during the exercise.
The CDA had conducted the fire safety drill on Friday, but proper drainage of the water was reportedly not carried out due to negligence on the part of the relevant staff.
As a result, water accumulated inside the DG Media’s office, including its kitchen and washroom, causing disruption to the office’s routine activities.
