Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has rejected Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s remarks, saying there will be no compromise on the unity of Sindh.
Shah said the Sindh government agrees on the need for better governance, an effective system and reforms, and is willing to discuss positive proposals. However, he stressed that administrative reforms and the reorganisation of provinces are two different matters.
He said provinces are not merely administrative units, but also represent history, identity, culture and language.
Shah added that if the objective is to bring administrative powers closer to the people, this can be achieved under the existing Constitution by creating districts, divisions and tehsils and by empowering local government institutions.
