MATIARI: Three young men drowned after falling into a canal while sitting along its bank on Sugar Mill Road in Matiari, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred when the three boys were sitting near the canal. They reportedly fell into the water and drowned.
Bodies Recovered
Police said that as soon as they were informed about the incident, a rescue operation was launched. Rescue personnel recovered the bodies of all three victims from the canal.
The deceased were identified as Kumar, Anil and Rithik.
According to police officials, the three young men had been sitting beside the canal to perform religious rituals when they drowned.
The incident has left the local community in mourning. Police and rescue authorities completed the recovery operation after locating the bodies in the canal.
Canal-related drowning incidents continue to pose a serious risk, particularly when people gather along canal banks for bathing, religious activities or other purposes.
