The Punjab government has stopped female police officers from participating in an international conference despite the Prime Minister’s approval, prompting the Punjab Police to write a letter to the Ministry of Interior regarding this restriction, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The 63rd International Association of Women Police (IAWP) Conference was scheduled to be held in Bali, with police officers from all provinces, including Punjab, meant to participate.
Following the Prime Minister’s approval, the officers were selected by the National Police Bureau, with expenses for participation funded by the American IL program.
The Punjab government refused to send the female officers due to their ongoing official duties.
SSP Amara Athar, SP Zainab Ayub, SP Binish Fatima, and SP Ayesha Butt.
Islamabad Police’s SP Kainat Azhar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police’s SP Resham Jahangir, and SP Sehr Bano Naqvi also sought permission to attend.
