Sukkur: The Civil Defence Warden Service Sukkur has praised Deaf Reach School Sukkur for its exemplary implementation of fire safety SOPs during an inspection of educational institutions in the city.
The inspection was conducted on the directives of Sindh Civil Defence Director Riyaz Hussain Laghari and Sukkur Deputy Commissioner and Controller Civil Defence Nadir Shehzad Khan. Deputy Chief Warden Dr Saeed Awan visited the school and reviewed its fire safety arrangements.
The inspection found that fire extinguishers had been installed outside almost every classroom and near doors. The school’s transport vehicles used to pick up and drop off students are also equipped with fire extinguishers.
School Principal Imran Ali and Administrator Shoaib Ahmed Sheikh briefed Dr Saeed Awan about the safety measures in place. He praised the school for maintaining high standards of fire safety and described it as one of the leading institutions in Sukkur in this regard.
Dr Awan said the school provides educational and safety facilities for 328 students and 78 staff members. He urged other public and private schools across Sukkur to adopt similar safety measures so that students and teachers can be protected during emergencies.
He emphasized that fire safety should not be treated as merely a paperwork requirement, but as an essential measure for protecting lives.
During the visit, teachers also participated in a practical demonstration on how to use fire extinguishers and control a fire. The exercise provided staff with hands-on training to respond effectively in an emergency.
Members of the Civil Defence Warden Service team, including Post Warden Mahmood Ahmed and officers Lala Imran Mirani, Lala Rehan Pathan, Riyaz Siddiqui, Shahab Hussain and Ahsan Rajput, were also present.
The Civil Defence Warden Service Sukkur said inspections of educational institutions and practical fire-safety training will continue in the future to promote safer schools throughout the city.
