DADU: An awareness seminar on the protection of working women from harassment was held at the University of Sindh Dadu Campus on September 1, 2026, under the direction of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, retired Justice Shahnawaz Tariq.

The seminar was organized under the leadership of Dadu District Advisor Ghulam Mustafa Memon to raise awareness among female employees, students and other members of the university community about their legal rights and protections against harassment in of the Information Technology Department, Mehran Chandio, Sehar Saba Fatima Junejo, Ali Asghar and Saj the workplace.

Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Sindh Dadu Campus Professor Dr. Aneela Naz Soomro, Professor Dr. Kulsoom Panhwar of the Information Technology Department, Mehran Chandio, Sehar Saba Fatima Junejo, Ali Asghar and Sajjad Sheikh, along with faculty members, female students, administrative staff and support personnel, attended the seminar in large numbers.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a Naat.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kulsoom Panhwar appreciated the efforts of the District Advisor and his team and said that legal awareness regarding protection from workplace harassment is an important need of the present time.

District Advisor Ghulam Mustafa Memon gave a detailed briefing on different forms of workplace harassment, cyberstalking, protection of women’s dignity and rights, and the legal remedies available to victims.

He also explained the importance of establishing inquiry committees in institutions, their composition and the legal procedure for dealing with harassment complaints.

Memon said that every institution must have an effective mechanism for addressing complaints related to harassment. He urged people not to remain silent in the face of harassment and encouraged victims to raise their voices and seek legal protection.

He emphasized that providing women with a safe, respectful and equal working environment is a collective responsibility of institutions, employees and society.

During the question-and-answer session, students and other participants asked several questions regarding the relevant 2010 harassment law and its implementation. The District Advisor responded to the questions in detail and explained the procedures available under the law.

Participants were also informed about the role and responsibilities of institutional inquiry committees and the steps that can be taken when a complaint is filed.

At the conclusion of the seminar, participants described the event as highly informative, useful and successful. They expressed their commitment to following the legal procedure for addressing harassment and promoting a safe and dignified environment for women at educational institutions and workplaces.
