LONDON: President Asif Ali Zardari has arrived in London for a two-week visit to the United Kingdom, according to sources.
During his stay, President Zardari is expected to undergo several medical check-ups. Sources said his visit is primarily focused on personal and medical matters and that he will not participate in any political activities while in Britain.
The president is also expected to meet with various delegations during his stay in London. However, no details regarding the nature or schedule of these meetings have been disclosed.
Accompanying Officials
According to sources, Salim Mandviwalla and President Zardari’s personal physician, Dr Asim Hussain, are accompanying him during the visit.
The presence of his personal doctor is particularly relevant as the president is scheduled to undergo medical examinations during his two-week stay.
Sources said President Zardari is visiting the United Kingdom for the first time in approximately six years.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Expected in London
Meanwhile, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is also expected to arrive in London in the coming days.
His expected arrival could lead to meetings with his father during the president’s stay, although details of Bilawal’s schedule have not yet been announced.
President Zardari’s visit comes at a time when Pakistan’s political leadership continues to maintain engagement with the Pakistani community and international partners abroad. However, according to sources, the president will refrain from political activities during his current stay in the United Kingdom.
The two-week visit is therefore expected to remain largely focused on medical check-ups, private engagements and meetings with selected delegations.
The presidency has not indicated any major official programme for the visit, while further details about the president’s engagements are expected to emerge during his stay.
