GCC Condemns Iran’s Attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, Warns of Threat to Regional Security

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has strongly condemned what it described as Iran’s repeated attacks against Bahrain and Kuwait, calling them dangerous and aggressive actions that threaten regional peace and stability.

In an official statement, the Secretary-General of the GCC said the continued attacks against Bahrain and Kuwait represent serious escalation and pose a significant threat to security in the Gulf region. The statement emphasized that such actions undermine stability and increase tensions in an already sensitive geopolitical environment.

According to the GCC leadership, the attacks highlight what it called Iran’s escalating and confrontational behavior in the region. The Secretary-General stated that Tehran’s actions demonstrate a pattern of increasing tensions rather than efforts toward dialogue and stability.

The GCC strongly criticized the targeting of vital installations and civilian infrastructure in Bahrain and Kuwait. According to the statement, such actions violate internationally accepted principles and charters that govern relations between sovereign states. The council described these attacks as a clear and unacceptable breach of international norms.

Officials within the GCC stressed that attacks on civilian facilities and critical infrastructure are particularly concerning because they endanger the lives of ordinary people and disrupt essential services. Infrastructure such as energy facilities, transportation networks, and public utilities are considered vital to the functioning of modern societies, and attacks on such sites can have serious humanitarian and economic consequences.

The Secretary-General emphasized that these repeated attacks cannot be ignored and must be addressed through international diplomatic and security mechanisms. He called on the global community to take note of the situation and work collectively to prevent further escalation.

The Gulf Cooperation Council reaffirmed its full solidarity with Bahrain and Kuwait, stating that all GCC member states stand united in supporting their security and sovereignty. The organization emphasized that protecting the stability and territorial integrity of its member states remains a top priority.

Officials also warned that continued aggression in the region could destabilize the broader Middle East and create wider security challenges. The Gulf region plays a crucial role in global energy markets and international trade, and any escalation of conflict could have significant implications beyond the immediate area.

In the statement, the GCC leadership reiterated that regional security depends on respect for international law, sovereignty, and peaceful coexistence among nations. The council urged all parties to avoid actions that could further inflame tensions or lead to broader confrontation.

The Secretary-General further noted that the targeting of civilian infrastructure contradicts the principles outlined in international agreements and the United Nations Charter. Such actions, he said, are widely regarded as violations of international law and cannot be justified under any circumstances.

The GCC called on Iran to reconsider its actions and adopt policies that promote dialogue and cooperation rather than confrontation. According to the statement, sustainable peace and stability in the Gulf region can only be achieved through diplomatic engagement and mutual respect between neighboring states.

At the same time, the council reaffirmed its commitment to collective security among its member states. The GCC framework includes cooperation in defense, intelligence sharing, and security coordination to address threats that may affect the region.

The statement concluded by reiterating the council’s strong support for Bahrain and Kuwait during this period of tension. The GCC pledged that its member states will continue working together to safeguard regional stability and ensure the protection of critical infrastructure and civilian populations.

The council emphasized that maintaining peace and stability in the Gulf is essential not only for the member states themselves but also for the wider international community, given the region’s strategic importance in global energy supply and economic activity.

Through its statement, the GCC sought to send a clear message that aggression against any of its member states will be taken seriously and that the organization remains committed to collective efforts aimed at preserving security and stability in the region.
