At least nine people, including teachers, were killed and 30 others injured after two passenger buses collided on the Sylhet–Dhaka Highway in Bangladesh on Friday morning. The crash took place in the Diyamir area of Osmaninagar, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
the accident occurred at around 9:30 am when a Bengal Paribahan bus travelling from Dhaka to Sylhet collided with a Unique Paribahan bus heading from Sylhet to Dhaka. The impact of the collision was so severe that the Unique Paribahan bus was forced off the road and into a roadside ditch.
Police said that all nine people who died were passengers travelling on the Unique Paribahan bus. Most of the injured were also travelling on the same vehicle. The officer-in-charge of Osmaninagar Police Station in Sylhet confirmed the incident and said emergency teams responded immediately.
Rescue workers, supported by police and fire service personnel, recovered the injured from the wreckage and transferred them to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. The identities of those killed and injured had not been confirmed immediately after the accident.
