ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) administration has stopped accepting new maternity cases due to limited capacity.

PIMS Executive Director Rana Imran Sikandar confirmed the decision, saying the hospital cannot accommodate patients beyond its available capacity.

He said 15 beds in the children’s nursery were completely damaged, reducing its capacity from 50 to 35 beds. Newborn babies and patients will be referred to other hospitals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

According to the executive director, letters have been sent to other hospitals for referrals, while some babies have already been shifted to Polyclinic.
