The Senate Standing Committee on Health has decided to hold its meeting at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital on Monday.

Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Health, Amir Chishti, told Geo News that the committee would convene its meeting at PIMS following its visit to the hospital.

Chishti said the committee had decided to hold the session at the hospital so that members could directly examine the situation and review relevant developments. The meeting is expected to focus on issues concerning the hospital and the findings of an ongoing inquiry.

According to the committee chairman, the report of the inquiry committee is also expected to be available by Monday. He said the Senate health committee would conduct a detailed review of the investigation report during its meeting at PIMS.

The report is likely to provide important information about the circumstances and issues that prompted the inquiry and could help the committee determine whether further action or recommendations are required.

Chishti also said that senators belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had been invited to attend the meeting. Their participation would allow members from across the political spectrum to raise questions, examine the inquiry findings and contribute to the committee’s deliberations.

Holding the meeting at PIMS is expected to give committee members an opportunity to discuss the matter in the hospital itself while considering the findings of the inquiry committee. The detailed review of the report could also help determine the next course of action for the Senate body.

The Senate Standing Committee on Health is expected to discuss the findings thoroughly and consider any recommendations arising from the inquiry. Officials and relevant stakeholders may also be asked to provide information or clarification during the session.

The committee’s decision to meet at PIMS comes as attention remains focused on the hospital and the issues surrounding the inquiry. The participation of PTI senators could also ensure broader representation during the proceedings.

The committee chairman reiterated that the investigation report would be examined in detail once it is received, while the meeting at PIMS would provide an opportunity for senators to assess the matter directly and discuss possible measures going forward.
