The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has outright rejected a 60-day ultimatum issued by Israel demanding that it disarm.
According to Arab media reports, senior Hamas leaders strongly criticized Israel’s threats, saying that the demands do not reflect ongoing negotiations and are not recognized by the organization. Hamas officials stated that as long as Israeli control over Gaza continues, the question of laying down arms does not even arise.
The ultimatum had been issued by a close aide of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, giving Hamas a 60-day deadline to surrender its weapons. However, Hamas dismissed the notice, reaffirming its stance that it will retain its arsenal in defense of Gaza under the ongoing Israeli occupation.
Hamas’ rejection reflects the group’s longstanding position that its military capabilities are essential for resisting Israeli policies and protecting Palestinian territories. The statement also signals that the organization has no intention of entering unilateral disarmament, emphasizing that any disarmament discussions would require broader political and security agreements.
