CHONDKO — Muhammad Azim, the maternal uncle of young Aashiq Chandio, has staged a protest over the alleged abduction, assault and filming of his nephew, demanding that senior authorities take immediate notice of the matter and ensure the arrest of those allegedly involved.
According to Muhammad Azim, his nephew Aashiq Chandio was allegedly abducted at around 8 p.m. and taken towards Bakr Shah Road, where he was allegedly subjected to mistreatment and physical violence. Azim claimed that the alleged perpetrators also recorded a video of the young man and subsequently used or intended to use the footage to blackmail and intimidate him.
Azim said that following the alleged incident, Aashiq Chandio was reportedly left on the roadside after midnight. He alleged that the video was later circulated on social media, causing severe mental distress, fear and humiliation for the young man and his family.
Speaking during the protest, Azim appealed to the authorities to take immediate action and provide justice to his nephew. He said the family had already approached the relevant police station and an FIR had reportedly been registered in connection with the alleged incident.
However, according to Azim, the individuals nominated in the case are currently out on bail. He expressed concern over their alleged continued freedom and called for the case to be investigated strictly on merit and in accordance with the law.
Azim further alleged that the victim’s family has been receiving threats of serious consequences following the incident. He said the alleged threats had increased the family’s fear and anxiety and urged law-enforcement authorities to take steps to ensure their safety.
