Sajal Aly’s brother-in-law and actor Ali Ansari has come forward in support of host Nadia Khan after she faced criticism and trolling on social media over her comments about a running scene featuring superstar Sajal Aly.
The discussion took place during an episode of a morning show where host Zohaib Hassan and Nadia Khan spoke with Ali Ansari about the controversy surrounding Nadia’s remarks.
Zohaib Hassan pointed out that industry veterans often face harsh reactions on social media when they share their opinions about acting, direction or other technical aspects of television projects. He pointed out that Nadia’s comments were being interpreted as criticism of Sajal Aly, although her remarks were actually focused on the way the scene had been executed.
Ali Ansari said he shares a close relationship with both Nadia and Sajal.
He described Sajal as family, as she is his sister-in-law, while Nadia is someone he has known for a long time.According to Ali, Nadia is a lively and spontaneous person who often speaks her mind while enjoying a conversation.
He explained that her comments about the scene came naturally during the discussion and were not intended as a personal attack on Sajal.
Ali further said that reviews and opinions are subjective which means viewers and celebrities may not always agree with a critic’s point of view.
e also shared his approach to online criticism, saying, “When you’re getting hate, it means you’re doing something right.”
Nadia then clarified her original remarks with making it clear that she was not questioning Sajal’s acting skills.
Instead, she was pointing out what she considered a technical problem with the scene, specially the editing and audio.
She unfolded that the heavy breathing used in the scene did not appear properly synchronised with Sajal’s movements and the speed of the visuals.
According to Nadia, her observation was about the director’s technical choices rather than Sajal’s performance.
Nadia also simplify that she has praised Sajal and her work on several occasions and has given her high ratings when she believes they are deserved.
Ali also criticised the way social media pages handle such controversies.
He said a detailed discussion lasting several minutes can be reduced to a 15- or 20-second clip, removing the original context and making the remarks appear more controversial than they were.
Nadia said social media backlash has become a recurring part of her public life, additioning that she has even faced trolling on occasions when she praised other actresses, including Durefishan Saleem.
