SEPCO Launches Major Crackdown Against Power Theft in Sukkur

SUKKUR (Bureau Report): On the special directives of Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) Chief Engineer Ijaz Ahmed Channa, a large-scale operation against electricity theft and outstanding dues was conducted in different parts of Sukkur city.

The operation was supervised by Assistant Chief Sukkur Abdul Haq Siyal and conducted under the direction of Executive Engineer Sukkur Khalil Ahmed Chandio. Personnel from the Rangers and police also participated in the operation.

Teams from the Bandar Road and Golimar subdivisions took part in the campaign. SDO Bandar Road Khaliq-uz-Zaman Domki and SDO Golimar Nisar Ahmed Sheikh supervised their respective teams.

According to SEPCO officials, the operation was carried out in Wari Tadar, Golimar, Industrial Area, Military Road and surrounding areas. Hundreds of illegal electricity connections were disconnected during the crackdown.

The teams also imposed fines on consumers found involved in electricity theft, while millions of rupees were recovered in outstanding electricity bills.

SEPCO officials warned defaulters to pay their outstanding dues immediately. They said those who failed to clear their payments could face further legal action, including permanent disconnection of their electricity connections.

Officials said the campaign against electricity theft and for recovery of outstanding dues would continue across the city without interruption. They stressed that electricity theft causes serious losses to the national economy and damages the power distribution system.

The SEPCO administration appealed to citizens to discourage electricity theft, pay their bills on time and report illegal connections or power theft to the relevant authorities.

Officials said cooperation from citizens was essential to ensure fair, reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers.
