Investigations into the suicide bombing at an Imambargah in Islamabad have made significant progress, with law enforcement agencies arresting close relatives of the attacker during a raid in Peshawar, police sources said.
According to police officials, a raid was conducted at the suicide bomber’s residence in Peshawar, resulting in the arrest of his two brothers, his brother-in-law, and a woman. The arrests were made as part of an expanding investigation aimed at uncovering the network behind the deadly attack.
Investigative sources revealed that an identity card belonging to the suicide bomber was recovered from the scene of the explosion. Based on the information on the identity card, the attacker has been identified as Yasir.
Police sources said the permanent address listed on the identity card is Abbas Colony, located on Shiro Jangi Charsadda Road in Peshawar. The attacker’s current address was recorded as Ganj Mohallah Qazian, also in Peshawar.
Authorities said the recovery of the identity card played a crucial role in swiftly identifying the attacker and tracing his background. Following this breakthrough, law enforcement agencies intensified their investigation and launched targeted operations to apprehend individuals suspected of facilitating the attack.
Investigators further disclosed that the suicide bomber had resided in Afghanistan for approximately five months prior to carrying out the attack. During his stay there, he allegedly received training in the use of weapons as well as instruction in conducting suicide attacks.
