Second Student Incident Reported at Private University in Lahore Within Days

A second serious incident involving a student has been reported at a private university in Lahore within a short span of time, raising concerns about student safety and well-being on campus.

According to police, the latest incident took place at a private university located on Raiwind Road in the Nawab Town area. A 21-year-old female student reportedly fell from an upper level of a university building and was found in critical condition. She was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors are providing emergency medical treatment.

Police officials said they reached the scene promptly after receiving information and have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Statements are being recorded, and relevant evidence is being collected as part of the inquiry.

Law enforcement authorities confirmed that the student is enrolled in the Doctor of Pharmacy (D-Pharm) program and belongs to Narang Mandi in Sheikhupura district. Her family has been informed, and further legal procedures are underway in accordance with the law.

The incident has drawn added attention because only a few days earlier, another student at the same university reportedly lost his life after a similar fall from a higher floor of the building. Police stated that both cases are being examined separately, while also considering whether any common factors may have contributed.

Following the latest incident, the university administration temporarily closed the campus, citing the need to cooperate with authorities and to ensure the safety of students. University officials have not yet issued a detailed public statement, but sources said internal reviews and safety assessments are expected.

The back-to-back incidents have sparked concern among students, parents, and the wider academic community. Many have called for stronger student counseling services, improved campus safety protocols, and greater attention to mental health support within educational institutions.

Education experts note that universities must play an active role in creating supportive environments where students feel safe seeking help during times of stress. They emphasize the importance of accessible counseling, academic support, and clear reporting mechanisms for students facing difficulties.

Police officials stressed that investigations are ongoing and urged the public to avoid speculation until facts are established. “All aspects are being examined to ensure a transparent and thorough inquiry,” an officer said.

The incidents have once again highlighted the need for awareness around student well-being and the responsibilities of educational institutions to safeguard their students. Authorities have assured that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
