KARACHI: A special meeting was held under the chairmanship of New Karachi Town Chairman Muhammad Yousuf to review arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ celebrations.
The meeting focused on the final review of municipal facilities and preparations to ensure smooth arrangements during the religious occasion. It was attended by Municipal Commissioner New Karachi Town Abdul Jabbar Mehr, Vice Chairman Shoaib Bin Zaheer, representatives of religious organizations, procession committee officials, and senior municipal officers.
Representatives of different religious groups highlighted issues in their respective areas. Chairman Muhammad Yousuf listened to their concerns and directed the relevant officials to resolve the issues at the earliest.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Muhammad Yousuf said that the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal holds great significance for Muslims as it marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He said that Muslims around the world observe Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ with great devotion and respect.
He stated that New Karachi Town administration is finalizing arrangements for the provision of municipal services, including special cleanliness drives, lighting arrangements, and facilities at venues of religious gatherings and procession routes.
The chairman directed heads of all relevant departments to ensure that residents of New Karachi Town do not face any difficulties during Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ celebrations.
Vice Chairman Shoaib Bin Zaheer said that representatives of Jamaat-e-Islami are serving people without discrimination of caste, color, or ethnicity.
Chairman Muhammad Yousuf also expressed concerns over civic issues, saying that the resources of New Karachi should be utilized for the betterment of the town. He added that issues related to sanitation and water supply require better coordination and management for effective public relief.
It was informed that New Karachi Town has been organizing Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ celebrations in a dignified manner for several years. The town administration also sets up camps along procession routes to guide participants and provides drinking water and refreshments for devotees.
Residents decorate main roads, streets, and neighborhoods with lights before the beginning of Rabi-ul-Awwal, while religious gatherings featuring naats and devotional programs are also organized. Traditional processions are held on Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, attended by thousands of people, including children and elderly citizens, expressing their devotion and love for the Holy Prophet ﷺ.
